Weekend

We had a rather nice weekend. I ran a 24 hour sale on original paintings on canvas and sold one 16×20″ painting.

Also hubby bought me a tablet for the computer as an early anniversary gift (I can’t believe we have been marrried nearly 8 years). I have had fun playing with it and seriously considering using it to make some digital art to sell here. Basically I take my sketch and scan it in and then use my nifty tablet to paint over the sketch with the computer. I am approaching it much like I do my painting, except that the fill function in some of the broader areas makes it go just a little bit faster. My sketches are not providing as clean and crisp an image as I would like to start with, so when I sit down to do this seriously I think I might make an inked version of the drawing to scan in for my base image. Oh yeah I was having trouble getting my Paint Shop Pro to do what I wanted to do on the computer and James found an open source product called The Gimp for me to use. It is wonderful!

We also went to the Irish Fest here in Dallas on Sunday. I got to visit with a couple of artist friends that were exhibiting.

Saturday I also got to go to my first rehersal. I am now officially a member of the Visions In Dance student dance troupe. Oh how my arms ache from it all.

Then I got to come home and help James figure out my tax stuff. He wasn’t happy that I kept finding expenses. Although I shot an email to my accountant about deducting my internet costs and she told me to include that in the stuff I send her. Yes doing out taxes just includes filling out a worksheet and sending a bunch of stuff to the accountant. But the accoutant is so worth it. The first few years James would do the taxes as well to test his skills against the accountant. Since she would ussually find more money for us than James did and the difference was ussually enough to cover her fees, we are very happy with her. Sadly my husband designs accounting software and still the accountant was much more competent than him on this. Makes me less likely to use software to do my taxes in the future. I am not sure what I would do if our current one decided to retire.

Oh yeah and I have added more fun stuff to my cafepress store.

And I have opened a couple of Imagekind stores.

The first one has my cats, dogs, bugs and a couple of belly dancers.

The Second one has a lot of my earlier work like my elementals, mandalas, my ink drawings of my Pretty series. If you don’t remember the pretty series it was very detailed ink drawings with mandala for the main images . There was “Stalking Pretty” Lovely little kitty stalking in the tall grass. And “Sitting Pretty” A peacock sitting in the mandala so that it looks like a stained glass window. And “Pretty Full” The little cat looking a bit plumper with a peacock feather in it’s mouth.
