Today
August 28, 2006 on 8:36 pm | In Art, Auctions | No CommentsWell today I decided to start a few listings for a penny on eBay.
I am also thinking that I need to start the painting a day project back up. This time without a specific subject in mind. I think that maybe Sept. 1 is a good day to officially start the project.
And I am excited to be starting a new media tomorrow. I inherited the kilns and tomorrow I start my journey to learn to use them. I start cermics class at a local college. I will get to learn how to form clay, glaze and fire the stuff. Should be an exciting new venture for me.
Dreamer Commission
August 26, 2006 on 2:13 pm | In Art | 1 CommentToday I am delivering the commissioned Dreamer painting. The soon to be new owner hasn’t seen it yet. I am hoping that she likes it as much as I do. But if not I can just keep it for myself and paint her another one, cause I like it just fine.
Dreamer 20×60″
Just to give you an idea of the size, here is my daughter with the painting. This thing is BIG. I loved painting this size. And the best news is that I still 2 more canvases this size to paint something else.
Canvas and Festivals
August 16, 2006 on 11:07 pm | In Art, Festivals | No CommentsWell things are going well. The 20×60″ canvas I ordered arrived yesterday. I am excited. A canvas nearly as tall as little ol’ me. The last time I did a painting this size wasin college and it was a painting of Thor. I wish I knew where it ended up, as I still have the companion peice of Freyja hanging in my dinningroom.
I am going to texture the canvas tomorrow so that i can start painting on it Monday. which just happens to be the birthday of the wonderful woman the painting was commissioned for. I believe that it is to be her birthday gift, but it took so long for the canvas to arrive.
I am also working on a special request of 3 paintings on cardboard. i have completed 2 of them and have really enjoyed working on them. They are an unussual shape. I gesssoed and textured the board and am painting on it. I can’t tell you what it is as I think it might be intended as a surprise for someone and that someone might just read this post. So nyah nyah!
I also have gotten prints of several of my latest paintings.
I have small and large prints of
When Life Hands You Lemons
Blue Bowl
Toot Your Own Horn
Queen of Hearts

Please forgive me, but the larger image had to be replaced due to theft.
I also now have small prints of the collage Midsummer Night
I have Also gotten acceptance Letters to some of the shows I applied for this Fall.
Sept. 23 Open Lake Ray Hubbard Studio Tour. You can come to my little studio to see where I will painting during the upcoming cooler months. yes, my new studio is almost ready. We are keeping the garage doors instead of installing a regular wall at this time because I am wanting to start painting even larger. I have the bars to stretch a 72×72″ canvas already and am looking forward to that. Hubby thinks I am insane to paint something that I will need a step ladder to reach the top of, but oh it will look so very cool.
Sept 23 Kismet. I might have to send someone to set up there for me, as I don’t think the studio tour will end early enough for me to get there on time.
Sept 30-Oct 1 Great Steak of Texas show in Frisco
Oct 14th Mutts, Mystics and Moonpies at White Rock
Oct. 21-22 Edom Art Festival in Edom Texas
There are a couple more shows that I am considering applying for, but I am not sure since I am already very busy this fall.
I am going to have to find time to paint at some point.
Threat of Toddler
August 9, 2006 on 1:34 pm | In Art | 1 CommentToday was a bit surreal. I went to go pick up some paintings I had on exhibit at a local Chiropratic office in Dallas. Everything was going well until I tried to remove the painting “Enchanted” from one of the rooms. I was threated with a letter opener by an angry growling 3 year old. It appears that the young man was very attached to this painting, and no wonder since his parents became engaged under it at a local coffee shop. He was so devestated about the loss of this painting that I ended up bartering services with his mom, who is the Chiropractor in the office.
And the best part is learning that children can be taught a real appreciation for art even at the young age of 3.
This is the painting in question. The original is 24×36″ acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas. I do have prints available of this painting that is so loved by toddlers that they threaten folks with letter openers to keep them.
I will be offering a few of the paintings for sale on eBay over the next few weeks. If they do not sell on eBay after one round, they will likely be going to the gallery at full price.
