eBay Listing and Relisting
July 25, 2006 on 2:59 pm | In Art, Auctions, Events, Rants | No CommentsWell eBay got a bee in their bonnet yesterday and decided the term “fee hike” was a form of keyword spamming and removed my GreedBay Queen listing. I just think they couldn’t handle a bit of humor directed at them.
Anyway I relisted GreedBay Queen.
And I did something new last night too. I painted my ever popular Sweet Dreams on a mirror frame. It is a bit kitsch, and I love it.
10×10″ Acrylic on wood framed mirror.
She of course can also be found on eBay for now.
Due to the recent changes at eBay and their censorship, James has become seriously motivated to create a store right here on www.bemusedart.com. I don’t know about you, but I am excited about it. hopefully the store will be up for business by October 1st. If I can talk James into letting me participate in the Lake Ray Hubbard Studio tour, I might trya nd push for having the store open in time for that. Use the tour to promote my new online store and all that. I need to get to work cleaning out my new studio space before August 1st if i am going to participate.
Blowing off a bit of steam
July 23, 2006 on 10:57 pm | In Art, Auctions, Rants | No CommentsI have been a bit frustrated with the new price hikes on eBay. No it isn’t going to cause me to shut down my store. But it has made it difficult for me to continue offering my small note cards in my eBay store. In my attempt to make my art available to everyone, no matter how limited their art budget, I made little profit off the line of small note cards. If I continued offering them on eBay, in all likely hood I would loose money. Hopefully, folks that would have bought the $3.50 cards will now buy the $5 cards. It is free shipping for as long as I can hold out.
Well to blow off a bit of steam and have my little rant, I posted a protest art auction on ebay.
She is titled GreedBay Queen and is 12×16″
Check out the auction to see my little rant. I had fun with it.
Hopefully James will have a store installed here for everyone to buy my art.
Queen of Hearts
July 20, 2006 on 9:50 pm | In Art, Auctions | No CommentsWell my latest painting was lots of fun. This is the Queen of Hearts. You know that she is the Queen of Hearts because she is wearing a big gold crown and has a heart tattoo on her right hip. And those are some impressive hips.
24×30″
She is on eBay now.
This is another one that was lots of fun and makes me smile.
eBay store changes
July 20, 2006 on 1:14 pm | In Auctions | No CommentsDue to the fact that eBay has once again raised the prices for listing in the eBay store, I am going to have to make some changes in my listings.
As of August 21st, I will be ending all listings of the small note cards, which are priced at the low cost of only $3.50. I make little profit off these cards and will be unable to afford to carry them with the listing fees increasing. If any cards are purchased between now and August 21st, they will not be restocked in my store.
I am hoping to be able to prevent any price increases, but the note cards might have to have price increases at a later date.
I do still plan on offering sets of Christmas cards as soon as I can get all of them designed and sent off to the printer. But those will likely not go up until October and only be listed for one or two months.
I am very sorry that I will not be able to continue to offer the small cards through eBay, as they have been very popular with everyone, and I like being able to offer art to fit everyone’s budget. I know these cards have been very popular with folks for framing. but hopefully you will be able to find the card you want this month on eBay and go ahead and purchase it. Free shipping on all note cards purchased from my eBay store.

eBay Store and Calendar Ideas
July 19, 2006 on 3:45 pm | In Art, Auctions | No CommentsWell I spent the better part of the last 2 weeks revising items in my eBay store to show free shipping. All note cards, large prints and original works of art now are free to ship and easier to buy. Next month I will work on revising the small prints.
Also I was talking with Jenn the other day about creating a calendar of my art. I was thinking of doing a limited edition of 25 this year. That means one for me and twenty four to sell. I am hoping that by Friday I will have a poll set up here in the blog to determine the top 13 images for the calendar. Basically a cover and one for each month. So check back here this weekend to vote in the poll to get your favorite paintings in a Calendar. Of sourse if you have suggestions now, please post it, so I will be sure and include it in the poll.
I really need to go paint now.
When Life Hands You Lemons……
July 17, 2006 on 10:41 pm | In Art, Auctions | 4 CommentsShove them down your bra and make your breasts look bigger.
24×30″ Acrylic Mixed Media on Canvas.
Yes, I realize that it is a long title for a painting, but it is so much fun. This painting was inspired by a signature line I saw on an eBay board. I think I enjoy painting these humorous paintings most of all. This one is definately going to need prints and cards made for it eventually.
In the mean time the original is available at a steal on eBay .
I had so many errands to run today that I didn’t get to paint any at all. So tomorrow I will have to work extra hard. Today was also just a wee bit stressful. My baby boy (okay so maybe 15 isn’t a baby, but he will always be my baby), had to have a mole removed and they are doing some testing on it. I hate seeing my kids bleed. But at least I didn’t pass out this time. I will never forget the first time he needed stitches and they were short handed in the emergency room. I got the job of holding the lamp while they stitched him up. In the end I spent the whole time on the floor with Chris comforting me and complaining that they wouldn’t let him see what they were doing.
But tomorrow will be more painting…..Lots more painting.
A New World View
July 17, 2006 on 4:40 pm | In Art, Auctions | No CommentsOkay maybe not that dramatic, but it got your attention.
Today I went to the eye doctor and surprise surprise, my precription hasn’t changed much, but I still need to get new glasses due to the others being 5 years old and kinda ratty looking.
I also got contacts. Boy has it changed how I see things. My prescription is so strong that with glasses the world kinda looks flat. Which might explain my painting style a lot. But with contacts things are crisper, colors are bolder. And best of all their is depth to things. Foregrounds and backgrounds actually do not appear to be on the same plane. Kinda weird after 5 years of seeing everything rather flat.
I think the strangest part was coming home and seeing the paintings I have been working on the last couple of weeks. The paintings almost look like they are vibrating with energy. I am not sure I want to sell Tea Time and Toot Your Own Horn now. They look so nice hanging on my walls.
Been a Busy weekend
July 16, 2006 on 7:52 pm | In Art, Auctions | 2 CommentsI am amazed at how much I have gotten done in just a few short days. I have been a good little worker bee. As you can see the website has finally been updated, and I have new work to post.
The painting of the day is Stop and Smell the Roses.
This is a 16×20″ acrylic/mixed media on canvas.
You can see her on eBay.
While painting her I got to enjoy the Jazz/Swing music mix that James made for me. I am really enjoying painting to livelier music. And I think that Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is fast becoming one of my favorites to paint to.
I am currently working on a Lemon painting. I think it is hilarious, but James just doesn’t agree. All I will say is that it was inspired by a sig line of someone’s on an eBay board. I had to go ahead and draw her on the canvas last night just to get it out of my head so I could sleep. I hate it when paintings nag me when all I want is a bit of shut eye. But ussually those paintings that are the most persistant are the ones that I like the most. Maybe she will be ready by tomorrow.
